Community Action Project
Our proposals
These were our main proposals:
1) Making all students aware of the importance of saving energy and materials, and that every little thing we can do makes a big difference.
2) Creating a specific school charge we have called "ECO-CÀRREC": someone responsible for checking that every little thing we can do to save energy and materials is done, such as simple things like switching the lights off when we leave the classroom. Our idea was successful and now every class has an eco-càrrec which is to be continued next years.
3) Replacing ordinary bulbs in our school by LED lights. To achieve this goal we wrote a letter to the school headmistress and also to the AMPA (Parents and Families Association). We also had a meeting with Mrs. Maria Marquès (Headmistress) and Mr. Gil (AMPA's President), where we explained the advantages in terms of efficiency and environmental care of these kind of lights in front of the ordinary ones.
4) Advocating for a more efficient use of energy at schools by writing a letter to the neighbourhood City Council, and also asking for the headmistress and AMPA support.
The process
To help meeting our goals we prepared some posters in the Art class, and also Piktochart ones... a picture is worth a thousand words!
And then... ?
To achieve our goals, we designed posters using Piktochart. We also drawed some in the Art class!
In order to visit different classes in the school to explain our research and our proposals, we also prepared in groups some PowerPoint presentations to help us explaining our ideas.
